At the moment, attacker Henry Onyekuru is still on loan from the English football club FC Everton to RSC Anderlecht. But in summer, the Nigerian would like to go goal-hunting for Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga.
According to a report by “Het Laatste Nieuws”, Onyekuru will meet Gladbach’s head of sports Max Eberl on Thursday to sound out a transfer on loan. In addition, the 20-year-old should look for a flat in Düsseldorf, as the Flemish newspaper claims to have experienced, which considers the probability of a change to be “very high”.
Originally, Onyekuru was to play in Anderlecht for another year because he still does not have a valid work permit for the English Premier League. However, a dispute with RSC coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck and the resulting lack of confidence are said to have led to the Nigerian international now preferring the route to the Lower Rhine. Besiktas should also be interested in the services of the young left wing in addition to the Gladbachers.
Last summer the foals had already tried to sign the 20-year-old. But Onyekuru chose Everton and signed a contract there until 2022, although the Gladbachers were credited with the better chances, because the offensive man’s girlfriend lives in Germany. Maybe it’ll work on the second try now.
With Onyekuru, however, the foals would get a professional who is not necessarily easy to handle. After a switch from Eupen to Onyekuru’s favourite club Celtic Glasgow failed in the summer of 2017, the attacker complained publicly and disappeared without further ado.
At RSC Anderlecht, the left fielder scored ten goals 28 times this season. German football fans were able to admire the skills of the 20-year-old in the group matches of the Champions League against FC Bayern Munich, which, however, were lost (0:3, 1:2) from the Nigerian’s point of view.
